Hale Primary School

Welcome to Hale Primary School

Hale Primary School is housed in a beautiful Victorian building next to the pretty Hatchet Green with free grazing ponies and cattle.  This direct access to the New Forest offers excellent learning opportunities.

We are a community school maintained by Hampshire County Council which strives to  provide a caring and stimulating teaching and learning environment for children of all abilities aged 4 - 11.

Initiatives include language learning throughout the School, enhanced Special Needs provision including dyslexia, focused curriculum provision for the gifted and talented and a wide variety of musical instrument lessons including strings, wind and drums. The School is well on track towards achieving Health School status.  We work hard to encourage all our children to take an active part in and responsibility for their own learning and to take the learning risks that will help them reach their full potential.

The School is set on the edge of the Village Green the perfect spot for play, sports and after school clubs such as football, cricket and multi-sports. In addition we have our own adventure play area and a nature garden for quieter moments. The latter was built and designed by the children.

Our parents have a key role in supporting their children and the School - the PTA has such projects as books and software for the library and additional ICT equipment.  All this contributes towards each child leaving Hale Primary School as a good learner, able to thrive in the future.

We are also supported by a small but successful Pre-School where the children grow and learn through play while being part of the School community.

Hale Primary School is a good school.  The 2014 OFSTED reports says that:

  • teachers know their pupils well in this small school;
  • teachers work hard to enthuse pupils with interesting activities which stimulate their imagination;
  • pupils say that teachers make learning fun;
  • pupils in every lesson are encouraged to challenge themselves and not just do things that they know they can already do;
  • when asked about Hale Primary School a pupil said, "It couldn't be improved. It is just a wonderful place to go to school.  It is like a family here and the teachers really help us to learn".

We would be happy for you to come and view our school as part of your decision in choosing a school for your child/ren.
